Where is Hope Found?

·

Are you searching for hope today when life seems cloudy at best? As we travel through these dark days of uncertainty we long for hope. So where do we find hope?

We need to begin by defining what we mean by hope. It is not wishful thinking. Hope that rests in the economy, government, technology or medicine, is misplaced hope. Christian hope is a confident expectation that something will come to pass because God said it in his word and will show himself faithful once again. It’s been said, “Where there is belief in the living God who can be trusted to do as He said, there is hope, manifested in stability, steadfastness, certainty, and looking beyond the present day when Christ shall come again, and never to disappoint us.”

If our future is not secured and satisfied by Jesus then naturally as sinners we are going to be nervous about what will happen in the future. The anchor of our hope must be securely lodged and grounded in Jesus Christ crucified, risen, and his coming again which is known as “the blessed hope.” This is the foundation of the hope to which we are called. Without Christ, hope in this life is scarce, and hope beyond this life an illusion.

My Prayer: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” Amen (Romans 15:13)
