Authentic Faith

·

"In all this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed." 1 Peter 1:6-7

We may be experiencing grief, confusion, struggle, uncertainty, fear, and tension in our lives today. This often leaves us asking God, "Why?" We don't know the answer to this question. But, 1 Peter 1:6-7 lets us know how God wants to use trials in our lives. Trials of all kinds are meant to prove the "genuineness of your faith". This should cause us to question, "How real, genuine, or authentic is our faith?"

Much like gold, our faith is worth more than anything else in our lives. As gold is purified by fire, our faith is purified by trials. But unlike gold, our faith will not perish, it is eternal. What is this trial showing you about your faith?

Maybe, this trial is showing you that you struggle to truly trust God? Or maybe you rely too much on the faith of others to carry you through? Or maybe you are just going through the motions without a true relationship?

Whatever you learn in this trial, God doesn't want you to feel guilt, he wants to draw you into a new and transformational relationship with Him!
