Throughout the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, we can find evidence that God has a heart for missions. God promised to bless Abraham so that he could be a blessing to all nations from east to west and north to south and to the ends of the earth. He wants all people groups to hear the gospel and to come to a saving faith. Before Jesus ascended to Heaven, He gave us a commandment to take the gospel to all nations, and as modeled in the New Testament, God uses the local church to send Jesus-followers to the ends of the earth.

At Alliance Church, we understand that the task of sending is among the most important jobs God gave the church and to that end, we work diligently to send well. One of the ways we do that is to send in global awareness. Through Sunday sermons, Discovery Land and Awana lessons, Green House GLO (Global and Local) ministry, and weekly adult Bible studies, our church attenders are aware of what God is doing globally and are challenged to consider their role in the great commission.

A second way we send well is by sending globally engaged people. Through short-term mission teams and Envision internships our people have an opportunity to go and see what God is doing and engage in His work. During our Global Connections Conference week, we invite Alliance international Workers to speak on Sunday and throughout the week at ministry events and our International Dinner. The bi-monthly update and prayer guide helps to keep our church members informed as to how to pray for our partners around the world.

We also place an emphasis on sending “glocally.” This created term is our way, as a sending church, to help people see that both local and global missions efforts are essential in our church family. We place importance on making sure that those who are sent long-term understand how to effectively contextualize the gospel in their local setting before they are sent globally.

God’s intention was to have His people bless the nations from Abraham in the Old Testament all the way through the Bible. In the New Testament, God clearly tasked His people, His church, with spreading the good news of salvation. And in the twenty first century, it is God’s global church through which the gospel will continue to go to the ends of the earth and to the remaining unreached peoples.

Over the last twenty years Alliance Church has sent numerous families and this spring we will be sending another couple. Kenny and Mel Chi will be going to Mexico with CAMA, (Compassion and Mercy Associates), the development branch of Alliance Missions. They have worked hard to meet the biblical requirements, have engaged in their local neighborhood and have been actively involved in our church family.
