Special Needs on the Mission Field
Special Needs on the Mission Field
Many of you may know that Alliance Church has an active Special Needs Ministry committed to supporting families of children with special needs by providing access to ministry programming through welcoming environments, individualized accommodations, and real relationships. But what you may not know is that several of the International Workers supported by our church have also developed a special needs ministry.
God is at Work Globally through Outreach to the Special Needs and Deaf Communities
In France, Bob and Molly will soon be opening a sensory gym. After living in France for the last few years, learning the language, meeting their neighbors and church attendees, and praying about what God has for them, they felt a burden for families with a loved one with special needs. A test run of a sensory gym was a wild success and confirmed what they had been thinking. Just a few hundred miles north in Paris, Mally & Val are planting a church and coordinating with Bob & Molly to include a sensory component as part of the outreach and care of their new church.
The Alliance Church special needs students are learning about the sensory gym project in France and are praying weekly for their outreach, specifically that Bob and Molly will be able to find a building to rent. We hope to someday send a short-term mission team of special needs individuals from Alliance Church to France to assist with an outreach event.
The Balkans
In a small country in the Balkans, Rob & Heidi have noted that individuals with special needs and their families often have little or no contact with others. They have started a support group for parents, which includes a separate class for children with special needs. By providing an opportunity to connect with others, they are building a bridge they hope will turn into friendships and eventually an opportunity to share the good news!
Creative Access Country
One of the most recent families to be supported by our church is working at a school for the deaf in a Russian-speaking country. The father is deaf, and the mother and children are hearing. They are working on learning Russian sign language and will use their connections in the deaf community to build relationships where they can eventually share the hope of eternal life.
Join us in praying for each of these ministries and for the International Workers who are being used by God to bring hope to special needs families around the world.
